It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

Winter Weather

Bundled-up for the ride.

Riding our bikes to English class on Saturdays and to church on Sundays is getting interesting now that the daytime temperatures are between 20-30 degrees Fahrenheit. This past Sunday was in the low 20's when we set out, and felt even colder on the way home!

Our church is located in a somewhat rural area of the city. Travelling there by bike takes around 25-30 minutes, but to get there by subway would take over an hour with a lengthy walk from the station to the church. So, we will continue to bike as long as possible.

 Wreaths and Carols

Front gate and bike parking area.
When our frozen feet pedaled up to church yesterday morning, we found the gates beautifully decorated, and the inside of the church all dressed-up, as well. Funny how these familiar little touches help to make one feel at-home!

We also sang some familiar hymns including “O Come, O Come, Emmanuel,” "Joy to the World," and “I Know Whom I Have Believed.”
Though there is no national holiday for Christmas in China, we noticed in the bulletin that there will be a Christmas Eve service and two services on Christmas Day. This will certainly help to make the holiday more festive!

       Happy December, Everyone!

  1. Quite pretty and a nice reminder in the midst of so many changes. For me I think I would love the music best of all.
