Today's forecast called for a type of weather I have never before experienced.
All week the sky has been solid gray, but this morning everything outside appeared to be wet. Before lunch, RA and I set out for our daily walk to the ATM.
Why a daily walk to the ATM? Only a few stores accept our American credit cards. So, for most purchases and to pay our bills, we use cash money. Next week we need to pay six months' rent in advance. Soon after that our language school tuition for the spring semester comes due. Since we can only withdraw so much from the ATM within a 24-hour period, we have to go daily for a few weeks in order to save enough money to pay both our landlord and our school what we owe. This new routine still seems odd to us after paying our bills automatically or through the mail for so many years.
Back to the weather...it didn't take long to discover that what covered the ground today was actually a thin sheet of slippery ice! We shuffled and slid our way along the sidewalks and streets, with only a couple of minor mishaps. (We're both fine.)
Freezing fog.

| I took this photo on a smoggy afternoon from our kitchen window last week. The air was absolutely still. |

| This is the same view the very next morning when a little wind had begun to blow! |
