Groceries and Bicycles

On a steamy Beijing Wednesday, C took R and me out on the town to show us where she shops. Our first stop was a Japanese owned supermarket chain. Here I am in the produce section. I hear my dad is intrigued by the variety. I just might have to have him come over to be my personal shopper!
While at first glance it seemed just like Pavilions, a closer look revealed a few distinct differences: heaps of raw meat sitting unwrapped in ice-filled cases, ladies who weigh your produce and price it right in the produce section, tanks of live fish (some of which are not sure they want to be dinner)...

They also had a soy sauce section to rival the American cereal aisle, while the cereal choices were just  a bit more limited.

Yesterday the kids and I were able to purchase our own bikes from a "Giant" bike store. A lovely turquoise bike for Amy with leather padded handle bars, a sporty red one for Ian and a plain ol' grey one for me. Thankfully one of their employees (pictured with us below) spoke excellent English. Rodney is still looking for a bike to fit his height.

It's been a long time since I've ridden a bike, and today my muscles are feeling it!
