Where's My Purse?

This morning the air was clear and not too cold, so I decided to bike to my Chinese class. Arriving at the same time as my friend and her daughter, I spent a minute chatting with them as I locked my bike and collected my things. My teacher was a half an hour late due to unusual traffic, so our class went half an hour over-time.

After class as I packed my book bag, it dawned on me that my purse wasn't in the room, and I started to panic since I was carrying quite a bit of cash. I asked the ladies in the office if anyone had seen my purse, and one of the gals asked if I rode a bike. When I told her I had, she gasped and apologized. Someone had come in asking if one of their students maybe left her purse on her bike outside. Since I usually come by subway, the teachers didn't think it could be mine. I rushed downstairs and outside, and sure enough, there was my bright blue purse sitting on the back of my bike, right where I apparently left it! A quick check revealed that all of my money was still inside!

So, for two hours my purse sat outside and was untouched!Kind people even tried to find me and set things right.  感谢上帝！Thank God！This is not the first time I have been protected from harm in spite of my carelessness/distraction, and not the first time I've been impressed by the honesty of the Chinese people. They have often gone out of their way to help me when they could easily have taken advantage of me, and I am so grateful!
